Resolved data issues with iPhone 4S

Since I upgraded to an iPhone 4S in April, I had to sit back and observe how abysmal data transfer rates had become.

The phone didn’t work at all on a trip to California. It barely worked (outside of wifi) after a shutdown when I returned. In addition to random ‘brain freezes’, the phone was frequently warm to the touch while trying to connect.

A first visit to the AT&T store, followed by an appointment with an Apple Genius, didn’t do much to fix the issue, even after the recommended full restore.

Six months later, it was time for another visit to the AT&T store… and surprise, the suggestion this time was to try a new SIM card. The exchange of cards was quick and painless and guess what? It seems to be working so far. The phone finally displays transfer rates worthy of 4G.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the next few days…
