iPhone 4S fixes – part 4

And another weekend wasted on tech issues.

This time, a visit to the Apple Store about my ongoing data and connectivity issues with my iPhone 4S convinced me to take drastic measure – a full reset and reinstall of all apps instead of a restore from backup.

Apparently, the phone diagnostics tool used by the Genius showed the phone considered itself on and off at the same time, as well as reported issues with low level services. Not good. On the bright side, the battery is still healthy.

Of course, a full reinstall meant losing my folder structure for apps as well as the loss of my current tasks lists in Clear (and other apps that I did not sync with ‘the cloud’).

Fortunately, there are ways to read older iPhone backups and recover some of that data (see another article here – Reading iPhone Backups ).
