Sorting out social networks

Social networks can overlap and become redundant after a while.

I found it better to give them a purpose and let that command what I post and where.

  • Facebook – Follow Family and Friends only. I found it too distracting to follow themes, brands, artists and so on. Linked to my main blog.
  • Twitter – Follow Friends, professional connections, inspiring people and a handful of tech companies. Linked to my Work blog.
  • Google+ – Follow gaming, geek culture and select Friends and Family. Linked to my Play blog.
  • LinkedIn – Follow professional contacts only. Linked to my Work blog.
  • Flickr – For photographs (DSLR mostly) and an archive of digital creations. Linked to my Create blog.
  • Instagram – For mobile photos only. Follow some friends and family and direct copy of most posts to Facebook.
  • Picasa – For gaming screenshots mostly. Linked to my Play blog.
  • Tumblr – For a collection of embedded short, sci-fi videos found online. Linked to Play and Lost+Found blog.
  • Pinterest – For visual inspiration to draw, paint and visualize data. Linked to my Play and Create blogs.
