Purchased a new official mod and got the same, disappointing, pop-up quest out of nowehere when I activated it (speaking of activation, these official mods are a pain to activate. I had to start my PC in Safe Mod every single time I wanted to get past the activation code to actually install the thing).

SIGGRAPH time again
Time for another wild ride at SIGGRAPH, this time in Boston. On the menu so far : artsy cows, exotic installations to touch and play with in emerging Technologies, a less exotic but more functional Cyber fashion show, tea pots, a giant etch-a-sketch, hours of animations and short films, and an exhibit as wild as usual. See what all this…
Odd conflicts between mods
I recently downloaded updates to several mods. Soon after, Oblivion refused to start (frozen during Loading sequence). After much tweaking I traced back the issue to three updates: – Mighty Magick 4.5 – Arcane university revamped – Cyrodiil Transportation Network The issue with MM was resolved with a further update (apparently, I the update I first caught was corrupted when…
Cover Art
Found in a recent link from Slashdot to an entry of Phil Ryu’s blog about the top ten most beautiful Mac OS X apps – coverflow puts to a good use these neglected cover art pictures in your iTunes library and turns them into a fluid, intuitive interface to select albums you want to listen to. Now if only Apple…
Performance issues resolved
I took some time over the holiday to reinstall the last round of plugins, one set at a time, to try and trace back the source of my performance problems. Thanks to the Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) – http://timeslip.users.sourceforge.net/ – I traced the issue back to the ArchiveInvalidation.txt file used by many mods to point Oblivion to new locations of…
Performance issues
The first official patch was released yesterday (v1.1). Curiously since installing it, I am experiencing very long delays when starting the game. Going from the initial ‘Bethesda’ video to the first ‘Loading’ screen (before even getting t the main menu) takes up to 20 minutes ! I am not sure if this is caused by the patch itself, a mod…
First steps in Oblivion
The wait is over. I got my hands on a copy of Oblivion. Like many fans of the Elders Scrolls series out there, I had been waiting this release with a mix of anticipation and fear. Anticipation for the wonderful improvements promised by Bethesda. And fear of the inevitable disappointment at some of the changes that would be introduced. Bethesda…
The good news from Oblivion
The game is gorgeous. There is no other way of saying this. Morrowind was the first game I ever played where one of my first actions was to sit on a rock and watch the sun go down. The landscapes were very alien, with charred valleys, giant mushrooms and flying jellyfish. Oblivion is several orders of magnitude better looking, with…
New Oblivion gallery
I created a new section in my main gallery for Oblivion screenshots. This time around, I will document the adventures of Selena in Cyrodiil , my main character, right from the beginning.
Morrowind 2.0
The news of more delays for Oblivion last December were enough to motivate me to get as close as possible to a new version of Morrowind. Four years after its release, Morrowind has spawned so many mods that it has become possible to literally upgrade the game to a whole new experience. Getting there not an easy task though, but…
