{"id":184,"date":"2006-09-12T21:26:36","date_gmt":"2006-09-13T01:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.alquier.org\/linfa\/create\/2006\/09\/12\/itunes_7_and_a\/"},"modified":"2006-09-12T21:26:36","modified_gmt":"2006-09-13T01:26:36","slug":"itunes_7_and_a","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.alquier.org\/laurent\/sites\/2006\/09\/12\/itunes_7_and_a\/","title":{"rendered":"iTunes 7 and a tip to refresh of iTunes library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>iTunes 7 is out, and it looks good so far \ud83d\ude42 &#8230;. a good occasion to add a nagging tip to this little collection.<br \/>\nAs I was trying to keep my iTunes library synchronized between my desktop (windows) and my laptop (mac OS), I found it frustrating to have to delete and reload my library each time I did a backup.<br \/>\nHere is the correct way of doing this :<br \/>\n<a title=\"How to recreate your iTunes Library\" href=\"http:\/\/docs.info.apple.com\/article.html?artnum=93313\">How to recreate your iTunes Library<\/a><br \/>\nClick on the details for a copy of the steps in case that article changes on Apple&#8217;s website.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><br \/>\nQuit iTunes.<br \/>\nLocate your iTunes folder.<br \/>\nFor Mac OS X the iTunes folder is stored in one of the following locations:<br \/>\n\/Users\/username\/Music<br \/>\n\/Users\/username\/Documents<br \/>\nNote: You may need to check both locations.<br \/>\nFor Microsoft Windows the iTunes folder is stored in<br \/>\n\\Documents and Settings\\username\\My Documents\\My Music\\<br \/>\nOpen your iTunes folder.<br \/>\nDrag the iTunes Music Library.xml to the Desktop<br \/>\nDrag the following file from your iTunes folder to the Trash:<br \/>\nMac OS X: &#8220;iTunes Library&#8221; (in versions of iTunes prior to 4.9 this was called &#8220;iTunes 4 Music Library&#8221;).<br \/>\nMicrosoft Windows: &#8220;iTunes Library.itl&#8221; (in versions of iTunes prior to 4.9 this was called &#8220;iTunes 4 Music Library.itl&#8221;)<br \/>\nOpen iTunes.<br \/>\nFrom the File menu, choose Import.
